The energy company, one of the best-known sponsors in the World MotoGP Championship, will be in Moto3 next season with the riders Álex Rins and Miguel Oliveira, and so competing in all categories.
Repsol, with more than 40 years of sponsorship in the world of sports, will tackle the 2012 season with the high hopes of winning in all the categories of the World Championship. The energy company, which won the MotoGP class in 2011 with the Australian Casey Stoner and was Runner-up in Moto2 thanks to the Spaniard Marc Márquez, will be present in more categories in 2012 as it will prepare a team for the new Moto3 class, with a team made up of the Spaniard Álex Rins and the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira.
Álex Rins, 16, is the latest discovery from the Spanish youth rider training sysytem and will make his debut in the World Championship as the reigning Spanish Champion (CEV) in the 125cc class. Miguel Oliveira, also 16, is one of the most promising riders on the international scene as he now has one year's experience in the 125cc class and won the last two races of the CEV on a Moto3 prepared by the Monlau Competición Team. Moreover, Álex Márquez, runner-up in the CEV 2011, will start some of the races in the championship as a Wild card. Marc Márquez's brother will combine this competition with the CEV in the Moto3 class, where he will fight to become champion. The last time that Repsol was present in the smallest category of the World Championship, in 2010, it won the title with Marc Márquez as the team rider.
Repsol will have the strongest team in the 2012 World Championship and will be looking to win in all classes with Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa (MotoGP), Marc Márquez (Moto2), Álex Rins and Miguel Oliveira (Moto3). Since its debut in the World Championship 40 years ago, Repsol has won 27 championships in the different classes (50, 80, 125, 250, 500cc and MotoGP). In spite of having some of the best riders on the grid in its teams, Repsol has still not completed all its signings for next season. The company is also the official fuel and lubricant supplier to the Repsol Honda Team in MotoGP. At its Centro de Tecnología, located in Móstoles (Madrid), the energy company is developing fuels specifically for top level racing.
